This ornamental onion features snaky, twisty leaves reminiscent of the snake-haired Medusa from legend. It creates a low mound of grey-green, narrow foliage, with leaves that curl slightly at the tips. The nodding buds resemble snakes at the stem tips, which then straighten out to become clusters of light amethyst purple flowers.
