Position Summary

The Production Office Administrator reports to the Production Manager and will be responsible for a variety of administrative and operational functions to ensure the effective function and operation of the Production department by ensuring that prescribed schedules, policies and procedures are followed.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Assist Production Manager with data entry into nursery software (e.g., crop plans and adjustments, collecting data for and preparing reports to support Production Manager and GM)
Post crops in nursery software system (daily entry of crops planted, goal shortages, etc.)
Receive and inspect incoming plant deliveries; notify suppliers and manage credits when necessary
Coordinate overseas incoming plant material and documentation, including maintaining an up-to-date import permit (as new products are introduced/custom grown), distributing updated permit per working standard
Collaborate with Production team members to improve and enhance greenhouse operations work standards, procedures, and tasks to meet and/or exceed North Creek's standards; write and maintain work standards, ensuring communication of same
Prepare for and attend weekly Production Review meetings
Work with Production team on issues related to growing, stock, production, propagation, and quality control
Review and make recommendations to the production plan to make it more executable and profitable
Be cross trained in other areas of Production administration—custom grows for each type of crop (TC, URC, RC, BR, Plugs for Repot, Seed); payroll processing

Experience

Interest in production horticulture desired but not required

Knowledge / Skills Required

Must be able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing
Must have good computer skills—working knowledge of Excel and Word and able to use the Internet, Outlook and various electronic devices, with ability to learn customized computer software
Ability to read labels and differentiate between plants
Ability to learn Latin plant names
Ability to do simple math calculations and conversions
Basic understanding of computers, including email and wireless devices (tablets, text messaging), as well as electronic monitoring systems, or willingness to learn (greenhouse control systems), with ability to learn customized computer software
Be an excellent communicator with effective listening skills, able to interface effectively with all employees, both hourly staff and management, as well as ability to organize thoughts well and express them in a clear manner that is well received
Must have good organization and time management skills
Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Keep supervisor informed of daily/weekly progress and garden issues as they arise

Follow Systems Approach to Nursery Certification (SANC) practices in day-to-day tasks and strive for continual improvement of our facility practices and internal procedures

Education

Undergraduate degree in horticulture preferred but not required
