The Section Grower is responsible for the care and maintenance of plants. They will perform various operational and supervisory functions to insure the effective operation of the growing facility by insuring that prescribed schedules, operating policies and procedures are followed.
Weekend work is required when scheduled.

Essential Functions
- Maintain plant health and quality through proper irrigation, fertilization, and pest control techniques
- Maintain a clean and organized growing area, free of weeds
- Make pesticide applications as required and follow standard work procedures to ensure compliance with all state and federal laws
- Perform regular testing to assure proper soil chemistry and plant nutrition (e.g., check/monitor soil temperatures daily)
- Responsible for maintenance and reporting of plant inventory changes in assigned houses and informing Inventory Manager)
- Make recommendations regarding improved operating policies and procedures
- Performs additional duties as required
Experience
- Growing experience desired but not required; we are willing to train the right person with the right attitude
Necessary Job Skills
- Horticultural knowledge and understanding the use of perennials, grasses, ferns, and vines
- Must have knowledge of basic growing techniques
- Is able to obtain a PA Pesticide applicators license
- Must be able to do simple math calculations and conversions
- Knowledge of pesticide safety and application techniques
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing (including electronic communication)

- Has an understanding of different cultural requirements of plants based on where they grow in the landscape/field in order to properly care for and maintain the quality of product awaiting shipment
