The Office Assistant will assist with and/or be responsible for a variety of office management and human relations services to ensure the effective function and operation of all departments, primarily working with the Office/Human Resources Manager.

Essential Functions
- Assist with maintaining up-to-date general office information and communication of same (requisite postings, meeting notes, events, educational opportunities, employee changes, etc.)
- Assist in coordination of onboarding and orientation of new employees and temporary workers, including recordkeeping, training and payroll processing
- Assist with maintaining up-to-date employee files and records, including Form I-9 documentation and confidential recordspurging and retaining files per policy
- Assist with coordination of office vendor accounts, including annual review to ensure best pricing and equipment meeting business needs; maintain up-to-date records; attend/schedule regular meetings (wireless account, IT, copiers, etc.); communicate information when necessary
- Assist with benefit administration (open enrollment, recordkeeping, coding invoices)
- Purchase office, cleaning & computer supplies; maintain inventory; code invoices and credit card statements for same
- Assist in development of policies and procedures, and implementation of both
- Assist with office/HR projects (e.g., job description updating, performance evaluation review system)
- Create & maintain up-to-date standard work documents for office management and HR procedures
- Maintain organized and welcoming front office; greet visitors/tours; notify recipients of plant and other deliveries at nursery
- Assist with planning company events
Experience
- Office administrative position
- Some public speaking
Necessary Job Skills
- General business office experience
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
- Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; can organize thoughts well and express them in a clear manner that is well received
- Must have good interpersonal skills
- Above average computer skills; experience with Microsoft Office 365
- Possess excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
- HR experience and/or training not required but preferred
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.

Education Requirements
High School graduate; college education a plus
