Additional Information about Chrysogonum australe 'Eco Lacquered Spider'

A vigorous native groundcover that quickly knits together, ‘Eco Lacquered Spider’ holds up well against deer browsing. This selection, discovered in south-central Georgia and introduced by Eco Gardens in the early ’90s, features rich green foliage accented by purple-tinged stolons that extend into the leaf base, giving it a subtle, lacquered look.

In spring, bright yellow blooms dot the foliage, adding a lift to its dense spread. It roots along its wandering stems, forming new rosettes well beyond the original plant, making it especially useful for stabilizing slopes or filling in challenging spaces. While it prefers well-drained soil, it’s flexible enough to handle a range of conditions, from sandy sites to heavier clay.

Growing & Maintenance Tips for Chrysogonum australe 'Eco Lacquered Spider'
