A tall and lovely prairie native with long spikes of pure white flowers from May to Mid-June. Easy and long-lived, it is native from New York to Minnesota, Texas to Mississippi.
Easily grown in full sun and will tolerate drought and poor soil. Plants develop deep, extensive root systems - should not be disturbed once established.
It is effective used in borders, cottage gardens, prairies, meadows, native plant gardens, and in naturalized settings. Best as a specimen or in small groups.
B. alba var. macrophylla occurs in prairies, open woods, glades, waste areas and along streambanks. -Missouri Botanic
