A more vigorous version of 'Moonbeam' that fills in faster in the spring and has larger flowers that occur all along the stems rather than just above the foliage, giving a fuller overall appearence. This plant is new to us, but did overwinter 100% in the cold wet conditions of 2003.

Interesting Notes

This stunning coreopsis is the latest development from North America in 'Threadleaf Coreopsis' which are characterised by their fine, lacy, delicate, narrow foliage. Coreopsis 'Crème Brûlee' has large, deep yellow flowers with attractive serrated petals; foliage is bright green and has good resistance to powdery mildew. This vigorous, prolific perennial is in bloom from early to late summer and into the autumn. Uniquely, flowers appear not just above the canopy but also farther down the stems, amongst the lacy leaves, to give a fuller effect. Coreopsis 'Crème Brûlee' upgrades 'Moonbeam', the standard by which all other Threadleaf types are judged. Drought tolerant once plants are established.

This stunning plant was discovered growing in the private garden of Lois Woodhull by her sister, June Croon, at Lois's nursery, The Plantage, on Long Island, New York. June discovered the new plant after the untimely early death of her sister and soon realised that it was something special, offering it to the plant breeding programme at Blooms of Bressingham in North America. June named the plant after her favourite dessert and it has been successfully trialled in the USA and in the UK by Blooms of Bressingham at their New Plant Development trials site located at R A Meredith, Bressingham, Norfolk- Blooms
