Clumping deep sea blue foliage. The most heat tolerant or 'summer hardy'Fescue by leaps and bounds. Named by the late Lois Woodhall of the Plantage. Neat evergreen mounds with wheat inflorescences. Stunning!


Use in perennial borders, mass plantings, containers and edgings as well as in rock gardens or troughs. Beautiful with Sedum 'Bertram Anderson', 'Vera Jamison' or 'Angelina'.

Native to Europe; from the Latin festuca for stalk or stem; related to arid fescue cultivars of elatior and lawn fescues of rubra.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

F. glauca prefers average, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerant of drought, salt, heat and humidity. Is prone to center rot if grown in soils that remain wet during the winter. Spreads via rhizomes. Cut foliage to the ground in early spring to maintain neat appearance.
