Carex muskingumensis 'Oehme'
Variegated Palm Sedge
A sport found in the garden of Wolfgong Oheme by Tony Avent, this sedge emerges as light green, but soon clear yellow edges appear. The foliage radiated horizontally on top of 12"-18" stems, resembling a small palm tree. A great native substitute for dwarf variegated bamboo. Spreads slowly and tolerates a wide variety of conditions. Found in moist meadows and along streams in the central US.

Interesting Notes
This is our introduction from 1994, found by our friend Wolfgang Oehme (of Oehme and Van Sweden--famous landscape designers). This sport from Wolfgang's garden has the typical growth habit of the species (resembling a small palm tree) but with a clear yellow border around the leaves... can you tell we're excited! Although the plant emerges green, the vivid stripes appear soon after. Plant DelightsGrowing and Maintenance Tips
Grows in part to full shade in most soil. Will tolerate more sun, as long as the soil always remains moist. Plants may topple over in deep shade, but is overall easy to grow.Characteristics & Attributes
