Interesting Notes
A showy addition to the garden, this sedge has white edged leaves and is a clump former. Its narrow leaves give it a fine texture that breaks up more dense areas in the garden. It grows to 12" in part to full shade. It is great for the front of the border, in drifts, or just tucked in here and there. Millcreek GardensFrom variegated plant guru, Dr. Yokoi of Japan, comes this bright new sedge. The arching clump of white-edged foliage makes a specimen mass to 15" wide with leaves about 1/2 as wide as C. morrowii 'Goldband'. Woodland groupings of 3-5 make a stunning accent in the garden against hostas and ferns. C. 'Silver Sceptre' doesn't spread as fast as C. 'Ice Dance' but will spread faster than C. 'Goldband'. Growing and Maintenance Tips
C. morrowii can be found in the woods of low mountains and is adaptable to a wide range of soils. Spreads slowly by rhizomes and is quite drought tolerant once established. Propagate by division of clumps every few years. Cut foliage to the ground in early spring before new growth occurs. Use in containers, or as a slowly spreading groundcover in the shade and rock garden.Characteristics & Attributes
