This remarkable, early-blooming, bicolor sage was developed and introduced by Richard Turner of the Strybing Arboretum. Interesting Notes
Found near the Chiapas area of Mexico. The two-tone flowers are varying depending on the temperature ranges throughout the season. Due to warmer evening temperatures, summer months produce red and all white flowers on the same plant. Throughout the fall as evening temperatures fall, the blooms will come back to their bi-color nature.
Growing and Maintenance Tips
Thrives in average to dry soil in full sun. Water well upon planting and regularly until established. Drought tolerant. 'Hot Lips' is not recommended for fall planting.
