Position Summary

The Oxford Maintenance Assistant assists the Oxford Farm Manager in the day-to-day general maintenance of facilities and grounds in Oxford as well as assists the Shipping Manager in transporting finished product to designated customers according to a trucking schedule prepared by the Shipping Manager.  The Oxford Maintenance Assistant will perform various operational functions to ensure the effective function of the various departments by ensuring that prescribed schedules, policies, and procedures are followed.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Purchase supplies as needed
Hang poly on greenhouses
Assist with snow and ice removal
Maintain physical plant and grounds
Maintain proper inventory levels of materials and supplies used day to day
Handle work orders in a timely and efficient manner
Inspect vehicle weekly and complete Weekly Vehicle Checklist, notifying Oxford Farm Manager and Maintenance Team Leader of any maintenance issues that need reporting
Complete a thorough vehicle inspection prior to each customer delivery trip
Responsible for ensuring vehicle has documentation prior to customer delivery trip
Ensure compliance with ELD Mandate
Transfer plants between production facility and shipping department
Abide by all laws pertaining to use of a wireless device while operating a motor vehicle
Be courteous to customers while making deliveries; exemplifying North Creek image
Perform additional duties as required

Experience

Experience in general repair maintenance

Knowledge / Skills Required

Knowledge of proper use and maintenance of tools (e.g., chain saw, trimmers, forklift, backhoe) or desire to learn
Ability to drive a box truck
Ability to pass a Department of Transportation medical certification physical
Possess a valid driver's license, with ability for record to pass insurance company standards
Ability to lift 50 lb.
Ability to follow map directions
Basic understanding of computers, including email and wireless devices (tablets, text messaging)
Must have effective listening and communication skills; can organize thoughts well and express them in a clear manner that is well received

Adhere to standard work procedures, company policies and safety procedures
Be reliable and consistent in attendance and punctuality, report to work on time; follow the timekeeping process
Ability to work weekends as well as before and after hours when required
Follow and sustain LEAN practices in day-to-day tasks
Maintain a clean working area ("start clean, work clean, finish clean"), specifically inside work vehicles and the maintenance shop
Keep supervisor informed (e.g., report any vehicle accidents or maintenance issues immediately to the General Manager)
Be a team player with a "can-do" attitude; be flexible and adaptable in approach to work
Ability to follow directions and carry out tasks assigned and at times performing those tasks satisfactorily without supervision, as well as ability to make knowledgeable decisions
Ability to problem solve
Maintain a strong work ethic; be detail oriented, highly organized, able to prioritize responsibilities

Education

Be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
College education not required

Travel: Required between Oxford and Landenberg; Customer deliveries
