Position Summary

The Production Intern will assist the Production Department in a variety of administrative, operational and supervisory functions to ensure the effective function and operation of the production department by making sure that prescribed schedules, policies and procedures are followed.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

	Assist Production Administrator(s) and Production Manager in completing duties
	Assist with stock potting and maintenance
	Assist with trims, consolidations, and transfers
	Assist in operating production line, planting crops to quality standard
	Assist growers in operating booms and monitoring environment
	Assist in operation of seed production line and assists Production Administrator(s) in weighing and treating seed
	Perform additional duties as required

Knowledge / Skills Required

	Adhere to standard work procedures, company policies and safety procedures
	Be reliable and consistent in attendance and punctuality, report to work on time; follow the timekeeping process
	Ability to work 40 hours per week
	Invest the time and effort to do a good job; take pride in accomplishments; exercise initiative
	Make correct decisions in a timely manner; possess good problem solving skills
	Ability to work at tasks that are sometimes physically demanding
	Is able to produce results in a sometimes-chaotic situation; stays calm in difficult situations
	Follow and sustain LEAN practices in day-to-day tasks
	Maintain a clean working area ("start clean, work clean, finish clean")
	Keep supervisor informed
	Be a team player
	Work in a safe manner, immediately reporting any unsafe conditions, acts or safety incidents
	Follow Systems Approach to Nursery Certification (SANC) practices in day-to-day tasks; strive for continual improvement of our facility practices and internal procedures

Education

	Current undergraduate student of horticulture or related field with a strong interest in gardening
	General knowledge of perennial plant and weed identification, and has an interest in native plants and their culture
