Position Summary

The Plant Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for managing crop maintenance in coordination with the shipping and growing teams.  They will perform various operational and supervisory functions to insure the effective operation of the facility by insuring that prescribed schedules, operating policies and procedures are followed. Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Manages plant maintenance, insuring plants are in prime condition for shipping
• Assists with identifying leftover inventory and reporting it to sales
• Adjusts inventory loss in system
• Supervises section growers in the maintenance of plant health and quality through proper irrigation, fertilization and pest control techniques
• Makes recommendations regarding improved operating policies and procedures
• Performs additional duties as required

Experience

• Has greenhouse growing experience

Knowledge / Skills Required

• Must have knowledge of basic growing techniques
• Must be able to do simple math calculations and conversions
• Understands different cultural requirements of plants based on where they grow in the landscape/field in order to properly care for and maintain the quality of product awaiting shipment
• Must have knowledge of pest control methods, safety and application techniques

• Is reliable and consistent in attendance and punctuality
• Completes watering and fertilizer and pesticide applications on schedule
• Is a team player
• Maintains a clean working area ("starts clean, works clean, finishes clean")
• Works in a safe manner, reporting any unsafe conditions or safety incidents
• Follows Lean Flow or Working Smarter program in day-to-day tasks

Education

• Horticultural knowledge and understanding the use of perennials, grasses, ferns and vines
• Is able to obtain a PA Pesticide applicators license
